Eligibility Criteria, Before & After Care


  • MUST NOT have Cryoglobulinemia (inflammation of the blood vessels) or paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria (autoimmune disease – rare type of haemolytic  anaemia)


  • MUST NOT have Known sensitivity to cold such as cold urticaria (skin reaction to cold eg. hives) or Raynaud’s disease (discoloration of the fingers and/or the toes after exposure to changes in hot or cold temperature)


  • MUST NOT have Impaired peripheral circulation (vascular disease) in the area to be treated


  • MUST NOT have Neuropathic disorders such as post-herpetic neuralgia (shingles) or diabetic neuropathy (nerve damage caused by diabetes)


  • MUST NOT have Impaired skin sensation


  • MUST NOT have Open or infected wounds
MUST NOT have Bleeding disorders (blood cannot clot properly) or concomitant use of blood thinners (prescribed to prevent blood clots and stroke)


  • MUST NOT have had Recent surgery or scar tissue in the area to be treated


  • MUST NOT have A hernia or history of hernia in the area to be treated


  • MUST NOT have Skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis, or rashes


  • MUST NOT be Pregnant or lactating minimum 6 months


  • MUST NOT have Active implanted device such as pacemaker or defibrillator


  • MUST NOT have a liver, kidney or cancerous disease


  • MUST NOT have uncontrolled diabetes or blood pressure


  • MUST NOT be menstruating if treating abdomen

 



Before Procedure
 

  • Drink at least 600ml of water before treatment time


  • Areas must NOT have wounds, bruising, sunburn. Avoid damaging your skin in the target area.  Cryolipolysis involves some massaging and suctioning of the area being treated. If your skin is cut or excessively bruised, you might need to postpone your treatment to prevent your wound from getting worse.


  • Must NOT be menstruating if treating abdomen


  • Avoid taking any medications or supplements that thin your blood, such as aspirin, fish oil or St. Johns Wort. These all have blood thinning properties that can make you more susceptible to bruising. It’s best to stop taking them at least one week before your session. However, before doing that please talk to your family doctor to make sure it’s okay. Your doctor may also suggest alternative medications that you can take during this time.


  • Avoid tanning your skin in the target area. Tanning can make your skin more sensitive to treatment. To minimize discomfort, it’s best to protect your skin from the sun exposure before your treatment.


  • Eat healthy before your treatment. A healthy body makes it easier and faster for results to appear, since you’ll be functioning at an optimal level.


  • You might want to consider stopping smoking for about a week before your session, too. Smoking can impede the healing process, delaying your results.


 

After Care

 

Everyone is different and results can vary depending on:

  1. How your body naturally responds to the treatment

  2. The original size of the fat pocket

  3. Your lifestyle habits following the treatment

 

During cryolipolysis the fat cells are frozen, causing the cells to crystalise and then die. Your body natually removes the dead cells through its normal elimination process via the lymphatic system.

We always recommend you allow 8 weeks to see your results; results can continue to improve for up to 12 weeks following your treatment. However, we have some clients who start to see results appearing from as early as 5 or 6 weeks.* To ensure you support your body to achieve the best results possible you are advised to follow our aftercare tips.

After Care Tips:

  1. Maintain your weight

  2. Eat a healthy diet

  3. Drink at least 1 litre of water / fluid to support your lymphatic system

  4. Reduce your intake of caffeine to no more than 2 cups a day

  5. Reduce your alcohol intake to 1 or 2 drinks per week

  6. Be active

 

Physical activity or exercise is beneficial on all levels for overall health and weight management. Regular exercise also supports your lymphatic system as the pumping action of your muscles created during movement and activity supports the lymphatic circulation.

Whilst cryolipolysis destroys fat cells, it does not remove all the fat cells in the treated area. Therefore any weight gained between your treatments could negatively affect your results. The same area can be treated multiple times if required but care would be taken so that the area is not over treated.

The ideal candidate for cryolipolysis has a BMI of 30 or below, who has stubborn areas of soft subcutaneous fat that does not respond to diet and exercise. That said, fat freezing does work on clients with higher BMI’s but with the understanding that multiple treatments on the same area will be required to achieve the desired results.

Cryolipolysis is not a subsitute for a healthy diet and regular exercise. For our larger clients we often recommend they seek professional weight loss and fitness advice alongside their fat freezing treatments. We typically find that investing in a cryolipolysis treatment naturally motivates our clients to take better care of their health and improve their lifestyle habits.
